It started in 1983, it missed 1998 due to repaving of the roads, and started again in 1999 and continues to this day. We all know it as the Birds Hill Park Duathlon "Tuesday Night" Race Series. David and Ralph Markham are two of the original founders of this series and are probably 98% of the reason why it has lived for so long. Others have helped them through the years but only Kevin, Anita, Amber and Brent Miller actually worked as Race Directors on their own from 2002 to 2004.
So it is to these Race Directors and six other unnamed Directors that we, the Tri-Force Team, tip our helmets to and say "Thank You" for a job well done!
In case we update any documents or maps below, we will coles note them here to catch your attention. The following is new for 2008 so far: As at 09 May 2008:
-Athete Point Totals are up and a link to the results.
-Okay okay...I thru out so much food last year at each race and all of a sudden everyone has an appetite this year. We will have extra food and people specifically loved the raison bagels so more of them. Also, to make up for the first race, we will find some sort of special treat to bring out in time for when most of the Medium Duathlon athletes have made it across. -Points...okay okay...I had to get some sleep last night and show up for work most of the day and now I have to go for my workout...okay already. I'll work on it tonight! But you already know who you are? You came first in each age group! -Okay Mickey...alriiiiiiight...we added a 60 plus age group and didnt realize you were in your 70s. Try slowing down a bit so you look like someone in their 70s. So we added a 70 plus age group and you guys get to fight it out for prize money as well. -We will have a seperate foxy looking woman working seperate registrations for all KOS in one line, Short Duathlon in a second line and Medium Duathlon in a 3rd line. And we may make a 4rth line just for Mickey as well!
-The race goes in all weather. Only Lightening Strikes will stop us. Rain and wind still sees about 100 people including Kids of Steel show up for pain and gain! Also, the bike racks will remain as 2, but they will be longer to hold more bikes.

KOS RACE START- 1830HRS (6:30PM)
ALL ADULT RACES START- Approx 6 minutes later
Kids of Steel Race Distances- (8-11yrs) 2k Bike/2k Run, (12-15yrs) 13k Bike, 2k Run
Adult (16 and over) Race Dist.- Short Crse 2k Run/13k Bike/2k Run, Medium Crse 4k Run/24k Bike/4k Run

The Park can be entered by either entrance. From the west side off highway #59 running north/south or highway #206 on the east side running north/south. The Race Site is at the very East Side Beach though most folks coming from Winnipeg enter from Highway #59 and drive around the inside of the Park to reach the entrance to East Side Beach. Look for the Pylons and enter!
